Volunteers to be Honored in Coffee, Warren, and Moore Counties

Nominations for the Tenth Annual Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards are now being accepted within Coffee, Moore, and Warren Counties. The awards will celebrate the efforts of volunteers who strive to improve their communities through service.

According to data from 2016, Tennessee has an average of 1.1 million volunteers. These volunteers have spent a median of 28.5 hours annually on volunteer activities which values at $3.5 billion.

One youth and one adult volunteer will be selected in each county to receive this prestigious award. Nominees will be judged based on community’s need for the volunteer service performed, initiative taken to perform the service, creativity used to solve a community problem and impact of the volunteer service in the community.

Nomination forms can be found in various businesses throughout the counties. They can also be accessed online at www.unitedwaycmc.org or by calling (931) 455-5678. Applications must be received by January 6th.

Recipients of the Coffee County Volunteer awards will be recognized locally at the Volunteer Fair on February 18 at First Christian Church in Tullahoma. Plans are also being made to have recognition services in Moore and Warren counties. Recipients will also be honored at the Governor’s Stars Awards ceremony in Franklin on March 11, 2018.
