Local organizations that help feed and shelter in-need residents of Coffee County may be able to receive federal funding through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
Coffee County has been awarded Federal funds through the Department of Homeland Security for the local Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP) under Phase 35 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
Coffee County has been awarded $22,110 specifically to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs. The award amount is based on our jurisdiction’s total number of unemployed as compared to the total number of unemployed in all qualifying jurisdictions.
A Local Board made up of representatives from Coffee County Municipalities, United Way, and helping agencies will determine how the funds awarded to Coffee County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area. The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must:
- Be private voluntary non-profits or units of government
- Be eligible to receive federal funds
- Have an accounting system
- Practice nondiscrimination
- Have a program in current operation (no-start-ups) with demonstrated capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter services
- Have a voluntary board if the agency is a private voluntary organization
- Provide a DUNS number
- Provide valid e-mail addresses for representatives of the applying agency
Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.
Coffee County has distributed Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds previously to: Coffee County School – Family Resource Center, Highland Hills Church of Christ, Manchester City Schools, Tullahoma City Schools, and Shepherd’s House.
